There are three species of zebra, plain zebras, mountain zebras and grevys zebras. The Grevy's Zebra is mostly found in northern Kenya and southern and eastern Ethiopia.

The Grevy's Zebra can become up to 20 years old or in a zoo up to 28 years old. Grevy's Zebras grow up to nine feet long, weigh up to 990 pounds, and stand up to almost five and a half feet at the shoulder. On average, males are about ten percent larger than females. All Zebras are boldly striped in black and white. Their muzzles are ash-grey and their ears are large, round, broad toward the tip, and thickly furred with borders of black hairs on the sides. Grevy's hooves are small, oval, and black and their heads are long and narrow.They can run up to 40 mph to escape predators. The species is named after Jules Grévy, a president of France.
