Zebras have membrane-bound organelles, a nucleus present in cells, and linear DNA.

Kingdom   Animalia

They are heterotrophic, multicellular, and reproduce sexually. Their cells lack cell walls, and they do not undergo alternation of generations.

They are herbivores, have a hollow nerve cord that lies dorsal to the notochord, and have a postanal tail that extends beyond anus.

Class   Mammalia  

They are endothermic, possess fur for insulation and warmth, and mammary glands are present for young.

Order   Perissodactyla  

They are odd-toed ungulates hoofed animal, herbivorous and hind-gut fermenters.

 Family   Equidae  

They are horse-like animals with long heads and necks with a mane.  They are medium to large animals.  Their ears can move and they have two-color vision.  Other members of the Equidae family are donkeys and horses.

Genus      Equus

Zebras are included in this category because they live in herds or bands. There are three main species of zebras: Plains zebra Equus burchellii , Mountain zebra Equus zebra, and Grevy's zebra Equus grevyi. 

 Species   Equus Grevyi 

 Grevy's zebra is the largest of the zebras and has the narrowest stripes.
